The genus name comes from the Latin convolvere which means to intertwine or to roll around. This is a very appropriate designation for the typical twining, invasive, very difficult to clean up after and eradicate, morning glory that is often found on fences. The one I have planted is not twining at all, but unfortunately very slow growing and very attractive to creatures that are devouring it at night. But what a delightful flower. It’s like someone came with a paintbrush and randomly brushed the color on the petals.
