Lavandula comes from the Latin word “lavare”, which means to wash (oneself). In early days, lavender was added to bath water to help eliminate (mask) the stink resulting from infrequent bathing.

Surprisingly, the lavender was extremely difficult for me to photograph. I can’t say that I am too satisfied with today’s picture, but it is the best of about 50 pictures I took. Visually, lavender is not all that pleasing, but hey, lavender’s value is in its amazing scent.
